1 Etudiant
H. Leslie Adams est à la fois un compositeur afro-américain, un pianiste et un professeur de musique. Né en 1932 à Cleveland, dans l'Ohio aux Etats-Unis.  Il a étudié la composition et le chant au Conservatoire de musique d'Oberlin, où il a reçu un diplome de musique en 1955.  En 1967, Adams a eu une maîtrise en Musique à California State University à Long Beach, et un doctorat en Musique à l'Ohio State University en 1973.  Finalement, il a fait un "postgraduate" en orchestration, de 1978-1983.  Le site Web du compositeur est : www.hleslieadams.com

2 Professeur et Compositeur
Il a débuté l'enseignement de la musique vocale dans des écoles en 1962.  Il est devenu Professeur de Musique à Florida A & M University en 1968, et un peu plus tars à l'Université de Kansas à Lawrence, où il a aussi été directeur chorale.  Comme pianiste et compositeur, Adams a travaillé avec des compagnies de ballet et de danse.  Il a aussi été compositeur et artiste résident pour plusieurs compagnies, y compris Cuyahoga Community College et Creative Arts, Inc. de Cleveland.

Adams a eu de nombreuses commandes musicales, et a reçu beaucoup de récompenses. H. Leslie Adams est un destinataire de la « Legacy Award »
[« Récompense de Legs »] du National Opera Association (L'Association Nationale d'Opéra) pour 2006.  Il a également reçu la   Récompense pour un diplômé distingué de California State University Long Beach (l'Université de l'Etat de la Californie Long Beach) en 2006.
En outre, l'opéra « Blake » du compositeur a été extrait par le New York City Opera Company 6 mai 2006.  Adams était l'un de 12 compositeurs choisis pour l'événement à Skirball Center, New York University, Washington Square Park South.  Un communiqué de presse annoncé :
« Blake », l'opéra par Adams, comportera des chanteurs du rôle de l'Association d'Opéra de New York City qui exécutera l'extrait choisi de l'opéra en le premier jour de nouveaux œuvres étant exécutés et décrits pendant deux jours.
